Halsted Middle School Cleans Up Memory Park

Wednesday, May 31, 2017

On May 30, 6th and 7th grade Halsted Middle School students participated in a litter clean up at Memory Park in Newton. The event was organized by Amanda Hayes, AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassador, with assistance from the Wallkill River Watershed Management Group.

Bags of garbage and recycling were collected as part of the event, helping to prevent waste from entering the Paulins Kill River. This is the sixth year in a row that Halsted Middle School students have participated in a little clean-up organized by the WRWMG’s AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassador, making the Newton school district one of the WRWMG’s longest standing local partners.
