Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation Honors SCMUA-WRWMG

Members of the Wallkill River Watershed Management Group were recently honored at the Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation’s Lake Preservation Recognition Celebration. The event honored local community groups and individuals for their commitment to preservation of the lake and the surrounding Wallkill River Watershed. The Foundation presented the Wallkill River Watershed Management Group with a check for $3,200 dollars to purchase materials for the Wallkill River Reforestation Project that is being conducted with Sparta High School and Sparta Middle School students as a hands-on, outdoor learning opportunity. This is the first grant that the Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation has awarded since its founding in 2014. The Board unanimously approved the funding because the project directly matches LMPF’s mission of combining science with environmental education opportunities.
