Sparta Senior Citizens Learn about Water Pollution

Thursday, February 08, 2018

Kristine Rogers, Watershed Education Specialist for the SCMUA-WRWMG, recently visited Knoll View Congregate Care Center in Sparta. Using the EnviroScape model, cocoa powder, and a spray bottle, Kristine demonstrated how pollution can flow into streams after rainstorms. The senior citizens saw that activities people do at home every day, like fertilizing their lawns, washing their cars, or not picking up after their pets when they go to the bathroom, can have a dramatic effect on the health of local rivers and streams. Collectively, however, we can work together to reduce our own environmental impact.
