Sparta Environmental Science Students Participate in Outdoor Lab

Advanced placement environmental science students from Sparta High School participated in an outdoor aquatic insect lab in nearby Station Park. The students worked with Kristine Rogers of the WRWMG to collect live macroinvertebrates (aquatic insects) from the Wallkill River and complete a biological survey to determine if this portion of the Wallkill River was healthy or impaired. Based on the results of their data collection, the Wallkill River at Station Park has high diversity and is considered a healthy stretch of stream!
