WRWMG Education Specialist Leads Teacher Training Workshop at Sterling Hill Mine
Wednesday, August 22, 2018
Kristine Rogers, of the WRWMG, worked with teachers throughout New Jersey as part of a three-day workshop that aimed to help teachers incorporate engineering practices into their science curriculums. The focus of the workshop was to use a series of hands-on labs to determine the effect of the mine on local water quality. During Kristine’s portion of the training, the teachers studied the macroinvertebrates (aquatic insects) found in the Wallkill River in order to calculate a score for the health of this portion of the Wallkill.
