Newton Students Build and Paint Rain Barrels

Students from Merriam Avenue School and Halsted Middle School recently worked with the SCMUA-WRWMG to build and paint rain barrels to be installed at Newton High School. The barrels collect and store stormwater coming off of the roof of the science building. The stored rainwater will be reused to water the plants in the school’s greenhouse and will help to reduce the volume of stormwater entering the storm drains (sewers) after each rainfall event.
