Rutgers Water Resources Program Hosts Rain Garden Workshop at Culver Lake

Monday, August 19, 2019

Nathaniel Sajdak of the Wallkill River Watershed Management Group and Chris Obropta of Rutgers Water Resources Program recently hosted a rain garden training workshop at the Normanoch Association Clubhouse at Culver Lake for residents interested in installing rain gardens on their own properties.

After attending the workshop, attendees will have an opportunity to have personalized rain garden design plans developed for their yards. Residents will help select where the rain garden should be placed on their property as well as the flower and shrub species to be planted. Ultimately, these rain gardens will help to reduce the volume of polluted runoff flowing into Culver Lake while simultaneously providing pollinator habitat for native wildlife.
