WRWMG Participates in 25th Anniversary of Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge

Saturday, September 26, 2015

Kristine Rogers, Watershed Education and Outreach Specialist for the Wallkill River Watershed Management Group (WRWMG), and Rachel Posavetz, AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassador for the Wallkill River Watershed, recently participated in the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge.  As part of the event, Kristine and Rachel educated participants about the importance of macroinvertebrates (aquatic insects) for determining stream health and also highlighted the WRWMG’s ongoing reforestation projects to improve water quality in the Upper Paulins Kill and Wallkill River Watersheds.  Throughout the day, dozens of Sussex County residents were able to have an up-close look at live macroinvertebrate samples while learning more about how they can become active watershed stewards.
