Merriam Avenue School Choose 2 Connect Students Get Free Trees

Students enrolled in the Merriam Avenue School C2C after school program recently worked with the SCMUA-Wallkill River Watershed Management Group Education and Outreach Specialist and received free native trees to plant at home. The students learned about the benefits of trees for stormwater management, river health, wildlife habitat, and goods production, and then had an opportunity to select the species of tree that would grow best for the habitat conditions on their property. The trees are being paid for with a NJ Department of Environmental Protection grant secured by the SCMUA-Wallkill River Watershed Management Group.
