Newton 6th Graders Clean Up Memory Park

Monday, November 04, 2024

6th grade students from Halsted Middle School worked with the SCMUA-Wallkill River Watershed Management Group to pick up litter in Newton’s Memory Park. The students heard a short recycling presentation by the SCMUA-WRWMG Education and Outreach Specialist before walking to the park. A total of 1 bag of recycling and 3 bags of garbage were collected during the event, helping to keep litter out of the nearby Paulins Kill River. Gloves, garbage bags, and litter grabbers were provided to students by the Sussex County Clean Communities litter abatement program.
