High Point Students Install Dormant Hardwood Cuttings at Woodbourne Park

Thursday, November 20, 2025

A.P. environmental science students from High Point High School worked with the Wallkill River Watershed Management Group to install 2,600 dormant hardwood cuttings at Woodbourne Park in Wantage Township. Each cutting is a clone of the parent plant.  When inserted into the soil, each stake will grow into a full-sized tree or shrub over time. The following native species were installed as part of this planting event: black willow, pussy willow, American sycamore, elderberry; buttonbush, red-twig dogwood, silky dogwood, and arrowwood viburnum.
