Halsted Middle School Celebrates “Leap of Kindness Day” with a Litter Clean-Up

To celebrate “Leap of Kindness Day” on Leap Day 2024, Halsted Middle School students enrolled in the C2C (Choose 2 Connect) after school enrichment program worked with the SCMUA-Wallkill River Watershed Management Group and the Foodshed Alliance to conduct a litter clean up at Newton’s Pine Street Park and the neighboring Mackenzie’s Preserve owned by the New Jersey Natural Lands Trust. The idea behind “Leap of Kindness Day” is to encourage individuals to use their extra day in the year to spread kindness in their community. The students were able to remove a total of 5 bags of garbage and 1 bag of recycling from the park and preserve.
