Hardyston Elementary School Participates in SCMUA-WRWMG’s TreeHabilitate Program

Wednesday, March 27, 2024

Hardyston Township second graders worked with Kristine Rogers from the SCMUA-Wallkill River Watershed Management Group to learn about the many benefits of trees for both people and the natural environment. The SCMUA-WRWMG’s TreeHabilitate program fosters greater understanding about how trees can be used to rehabilitate our watersheds and teaches students about the important role that trees play in stormwater management. Following the classroom lesson, each student that Kristine worked with is eligible to receive a tree to plant at home, thanks to grant funding provided by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. All the students are looking forward to picking out what species of tree to plant!
