Thursday, April 18, 2024
Lara Lovett’s A.P. environmental science students at Sparta High School recently worked with the SCMUA-Wallkill River Watershed Management Group to plant trees along the Wallkill River. The planting parcel is owned by the Sparta Board of Education and is the final component of a riparian reforestation corridor project that first began along the Wallkill River in 2015. The students planted 300 native trees and shrubs along the Wallkill River including silver maple, river birch, sycamore, swamp white oak, black willow, Atlantic white cedar, buttonbush, arrowwood viburnum, and many more.
